Absent: John Evans, Lindsay Eisensmith, Michael Reiter, Heather Gagnon
Guest: Mary Jo Nosal
Call to Order: Chairman BJ~Bernblum convened the meeting at 6:40 p.m.~
A motion was made by Sabrina Foulke and seconded by Bud Canady to approve minutes of the May 10, 2018 meeting. Motion carried.
There was discussion of the public meeting to introduce the Yale Urban Design Workshop (YUDW) to the community. The purpose of the meeting is to familiarize the public with the YUDW leadership and their intended process for developing a proposed master plan for the Halls Road neighborhood, and to solicit input from the community regarding this project. YUDW has suggested that Courtney Henrickson from CERC be asked to participate in this meeting, and Bonnie is attempting to contact her. Based on Courtney’s availability, the meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 25 or 26, with the 26th preferred. Bonnie will also identify an appropriate venue for the meeting, ideally one where the participants can break into small groups to share their views.
Edie will put together a professional invitation to the meeting, encouraging the public to attend. We will “publish” this invitation in available print and electronic media (e.g., LymeLine, Lyme Times, News and Announcements), as well as posting hard copy in public places. In addition, we will extend invitations Old Lyme government boards and commissions, to neighborhood businesses, to community leaders, to the Chamber of Commerce, and to others who have expressed an interest.
The Committee then discussed its future activities, in addition to working closely with YUDW. In particular, the Committee hopes to serve as an information conduit to the community, and will pursue the creation of an interactive website that can both disseminate project information and receive input from the public. It was also suggested that we consider video-taping substantive meetings when YUDW presents its recommendations to the public.
Next Regular Meeting:~ August 2, 2018, 6:30 p.m.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Bennett Bernblum
